DAY 1: Arrival in Havana

Your reservation at the Hostal Fresko, in the center of the historic section of Havana, awaits.

DAY 2: HAVANA

– 9.00 AM Guided walking tour of the 4 historic plazas.
Meeting with Miguel Barnet at the Fernando Ortiz Foundation.
Lunch at Doña Eutimia restaurant.
Visit to Casa de Africa
Conversation with Dr. Maria del Carmen Barcia about slavery in Cuba at La Casa de Africa.
Return to accommodation at Hostal Fresko
Dinner not included

DAY 3: Matanzas

– 8.00 AM Departure for Matanzas
Stop at Cumanayagua viewpoint
Guided walking tour through the city of Matanzas.
Visit to the Pharmaceutical Museum of Matanzas.
Visit to the old coffee plantation La Dionisia.
Lunch at a paladar in Matanzas
Visit to the Castle of San Severino
Visit to the monument to the rebel slave in the old Triumverato sugar mill.
Meeting with a specialist on slavery.
Lodging at Casa Particular
Dinner on your own

DAY 4: SAGUA LA GRANDE

– 8:00 Transfer to Sagua la Grande
Meeting with Yadiel Subid, historian of Sagua.
Visit to the ruins of the Santa Teresa sugar mill.
Tour of the city of Sagua
Visit to the Kunalumbo Cabildo in Sagua- Music and Dance Presentation and blessing
Lodging in a Casa Particular
In the afternoon, 6.00 PM transfer to Isabela de Sagua to take pictures.
Return to Sagua.
Dinner included at Casa Particular

DAY 5: Sagua - Remedios

-8:00 Departure from Sagua la Grande (Box Lunch included).
Transfer to Mariana Grajales village.
Visit to the ruins of the Flor de Sagua sugar mill.
Transfer to Guayabo Cuartel
Visit to Hacienda Yanes
Dinner at Hacienda Yanes
Transfer to Remedios
Lodging at Casa Particular

DAY 6: Remedios

– 8:00 Meeting with a local guide in Remedios
Visit to the Cave El Obispo (Box Lunch from the Lodging)
Guided tour of the City of Remedios
Visit to the Museum of the Parrandas of Remedios
Visit to the workshop where floats and decorations for the Parrandas are made.
Visit to the Sugar Museum and 19th Century train tour.
Dinner at Paladar
Return to lodging.

DAY 7: Placetas-Santa Clara

–  8:00 Departure to Rojas and Viñas (Box Lunch included).
Visit to a campesino house near Viñas. Witness the making of charcoal from marabu.
Visit to the village and mill of Chiquitico Fabregat and Zulueta.
Tour through the historical center of Placetas accompanied by a local guide.
Visit to the ruins of the historic Zaza sugar mill.
Transfer to Santa Clara.
Lodging in a Casa Particular in Santa Clara.
Dinner at Hostal.
Night tour of historic Santa Clara.

DAY 8: Cruces- Cienfuegos

– 8:00 Transfer to Guaracabulla, geographic center of Cuba (Box Lunch included). Visit to a tobacco rolling site and to the town center and its ceiba tree. Visit to the Monument of the Battle of Mal Tiempo. Visit to the Central Caracas and the ruins of the Casona de Tomás Terry. Return to Santa Clara Casa Particular Dinner included at the Hostal

DAY 9: Palmira - Cienfuegos

– 8:00 Departure to Lajas
Meeting with historian of Lajas. Visit to the Benny Moré Museum. Visit to Benny Moré’s Tomb. Visit to the cabildo founded by ancestors of Benny Moré.
Transfer to Palmira. Meeting with the director of the Museum of Palmira and dance presentation of Afro Cuban rituals in the Museum.
Lunch in Palmira.
Return to Cienfuegos
Night tour of the historic city of Cienfuegos.
Dinner on your own

DAY 10: Cienfuegos -Cumanayagua

– 8:00 Day tour of the city of Cienfuegos.
Visit to the Tomás Terry Theater
Visit to the Reina Cemetery
Transfer to Cumanayagua and photo tour of Salto del Hanabanilla and Manicaragua (box lunch)
Visit to a coffee processing plant in Cumanayagua “Empresa Eladio Machin”.
Return to Cienfuegos
Farewell dinner at Paladar

DAY 11: Havana - End

-8:00 Return to Havana (3 hour trip)
Drop off clients at their respective lodgings or at airport.

REQUIREMENTS:
