Ciego Montero

Ciego Montero is a small town, but it is known throughout Cuba because of the spring which produced the most popular bottled water and soft drinks on the island, the Ciego Montero brand. Geographically it is tied at the hip with the adjacent town of Arriete. Arriete-Ciengo Montero, as most maps refer to the population cluster, has approximately four and a half thousand residents. The town has a lively community based art scene and is the home of primitive artist Francisco Carbajal and the Yoruba dance group El Grupo Folkorico. Nearby are the thermal baths of Ciego Montero, with is healing waters that have drawn visitors since 1836.
